Share a project

Invite people or create links with the right role and file scope.

Open the Private or Shared control. Share the whole project, one file or folder, or multiple selected files and folders. Invite a person by email or create a reusable link.

Choose a role and scope#

  • Viewer: reads covered files.
  • Commenter: reads covered files and participates in comment threads.
  • Editor: edits covered file contents. Project-wide compilation and file-tree changes require full-project editor access.
  • Owner: manages access and project settings as well as project content.

Before sharing one .tex file, include every referenced file and image the reader needs; dependencies are not added automatically. See LaTeX compilation for how the main document uses them.

A viewer link can open covered work without an account. Commenter and editor links require sign-in. Anyone who knows an unlisted viewer link can read it, so treat the link as a secret.

Deleting a link invalidates it and removes access held only through that link; direct email invitations remain in place. An anonymous viewer may still see a cached shared response for up to about one minute. Learn how real-time collaboration behaves after access is granted.
