Use academic writing tools

Choose between academic phrases, formula explanations, writing suggestions, and Orca.

CorTeX offers several focused tools. Pick the smallest one that fits your writing task.

Choose a tool#

• Academic phrases: Type / on an editable empty prose line or after a completed sentence to open reviewed English phrase templates. The palette does not open in code, math, URLs, paths, comments, or viewer sessions.
• Math: Place the caret in a supported formula and open Math to see explanations CorTeX can ground in the source. It leaves ambiguous meaning unexplained instead of guessing.
• Writing suggestions: Enable the feature in Settings → Labs to find specific, source-linked prose and explanation opportunities. These include equation or figure exposition, methods flow, and terminology introductions; this is not a general grammar checker.

Use Orca for broader work#

Use Orca when a task needs context from multiple files, a substantial rewrite, or help with a compile error. Orca presents source changes as patches, and nothing changes until you accept one. For a broader Markdown writing workflow, see Write and preview Markdown.
