Configure the workspace

Arrange files, editor, preview, sidebars, language, and experimental writing tools for focused research work.

CorTeX remembers the workspace arrangement for a signed-in user so a project can reopen with the same sidebar, active tab, view mode, and editor preference. Set the layout for the task at hand without changing the shared manuscript.

Choose a source and preview layout#

Use Source in the workspace toolbar for drafting and Split to compare source with the rendered result. For LaTeX, PDF gives the preview more room for reading. In Split view, drag the Resize editor and preview divider to give an equation or wide table more room. Drag the Resize sidebar edge to change the navigation width, or choose Collapse sidebar in its first row; Open sidebar in the toolbar restores it.

On a narrow screen, CorTeX shows one pane at a time. Source and PDF switch the visible pane instead of creating a desktop split, and the sidebar opens as an on-demand drawer. The compact pane choice is stored separately, so checking a PDF on a phone does not replace the Split layout on a desktop-sized window.

For LaTeX, changing a view does not change the selected main document, engine, or TeX Live snapshot. For Markdown, use the live preview and source navigation to verify the rendered location you are editing.

Organize navigation and diagnostics#

Choose Files to navigate, Search to find text, Math to inspect a formula, Comments to review discussion, or Problems to investigate a diagnostic. Writing appears after you enable Writing suggestions in Labs. The active Markdown or LaTeX file's outline appears beneath its row in Files; expand the row if it is hidden. Cmd/Ctrl+P opens Quick open. To recover vertical space in a long document, open Project actions → Editor and clear Sticky section context; repeat the path and select it to restore the feature. Problems contains compile and source diagnostics; Comments contains review threads.

The workspace keeps editor content authoritative while the layout changes. A phone or tablet view uses the same collaborative document and undo history; it does not create a mobile copy.

Change account-level settings#

Open Settings from the account menu. Its sections own account identity and language, plan and billing, personal API key, and Labs. Settings opens over the workspace, so closing it returns to the file that was open.

Changing the interface language does not translate project source. Help and What's new open in the matching supported documentation locale. Project owners and full-project editors change the TeX Live snapshot from the project menu, not from account settings.

Enable Labs deliberately#

Writing suggestions are off by default. Enable them under Settings → Labs to analyze source for supported writing opportunities in that signed-in browser. Turning the feature off stops analysis, clears its markers, and hides the Writing tab. Try workspaces do not have account Labs settings.

To verify persistence, select Split, set the sidebar width, choose a sidebar tab, and toggle Sticky section context. Close and reopen the project in the same signed-in browser. Success means those choices return; a different browser or account starts from its own stored layout. Continue with Use the editor efficiently for navigation and language-aware actions.
